Homework 3

23 October 2019. Deadline: Monday, 4 November, 9:00.

Midterms are soon, and practice is essential for success. There is a new homework, in the same format of the exam.

Everybody must answer the homework, especially the students doing the course for second or third time. Homework is not optional and has to be delivered on time. If you cannot answer some questions, it is fine to deliver an empty answer.

The homework can be seen at https://anaraven.bitbucket.io/eval/2019/cmb1/hw3/. Follow the instructions there. In particular, you must download a RMarkdown document and edit it on Rstudio. This can be tricky, because Windows sometime changes the .Rmd extension for something else. One solution is to create a New RMarkdown document, delete all the content, copy the answer file and paste it on the RStudio editor.

Write your student number in the correct place at the beginning of the answer file. You should be able to Knit HTML and get the same results as the document you have in paper. Please do Knit often and verify that your document has no errors. If your document does not Knit, you will not have full grade.

When you finish, send the answers.Rmd file to my mailbox (andres.aravena+cmb@istanbul.edu.tr). Be sure to use the correct email address and send only one file.

Undergrad: I don’t like homework

Masters: Homework helps me check my understanding

PhD: For the love of god, give me homework so I can be certain I know what I’m doing.
